BookPALS united on July 18th for an amazing Group Read event!

Volunteers read to 10 Pre-K special needs classrooms at YAI Gramercy school, located off 34th street in Manhattan.

“YAI is a network of agencies offering people with intellectual and developmental disabilities a comprehensive range of services across the lifespan” -http://www.yai.org/about/

Verania Kenton (BookPALS volunteer & SAG-AFTRA Local Board Member) had this to say after the reading:

“I spent the morning with talented actors as we read to a wonderful group of nyc kids. Bookpals offers an amazing opportunity for us, the performer/actor, to give back to our communities. I enjoyed reading in English and Spanish, made new friends and got to channel my inner child…lots of fun. Changing hats for now…headed to a board meeting and other committee service. Join in the fun! #Bookpals #SAGAFTRA #Sagfoundation”

With the help of the Brooke Jackman Foundation all the books read to the school were donated to each classroom Libary.

BookPALS are really making a difference everytime they step into a classroom. Thank you for all that you do!
