New England BookPALS read during school vacation!

NE BookPALS didn’t slow down during this recent school vacation week! It created opportunities for new volunteers to get involved and read to students at the Bentley School in Salem, MA, who attended a week of programming that included academics, sports, and enrichment. Local actor Jeff Bellin entertained 1st through 3rd graders with his telling of Mucky Moose and I Need my Monster, while Constance Shute read a novel to the older children.

Longtime BookPALS read at hospital

Every month, a dedicated team of BookPALS meet at Mass General Hospital in downtown Boston to bring a little drama and fun to the children in the pediatric ward. This group of actor readers, led by former New England BookPALS coordinator Jane Turner Michael, go door to door, offering their time and talent to kids who are in desperate need of a respite from the challenges they face on a daily basis.
