CHAMPS, the Charter High School of the Performing Arts, is a performance-based college preparatory high school currently based in Van Nuys, California. Set to move to a larger location next year, CHAMPS is again seeking experienced teachers.
CHAMPS is WASC accredited, and had the highest English scores of any high school in Los Angeles County
CHAMPS teachers are part of CALSTRS, and also qualify for full medical benefits
CHAMPS teachers earn between fifty and ninety thousand dollars a year
CHAMPS principal Dr. Norman Isaacs had been principal of Millikan Middle School, one of only four schools in California and one of only fourteen nationally to be designated a California and National School to Watch.
Those interested should know that all academic teachers at CHAMPS must be either fully credentialed or possess the necessary qualifications to receive a California credential. Openings next year will be in English, Spanish, mathematics and science.
Other desired qualifications include:
Three or more years of full-time experience at a middle or high school
Success in teaching A.P. classes
Ability to incorporate the arts into the curriculum
Ability to work effectively with students, parents and other staff members
