BIG Congratulations to BookPAL Ann Crane who was recently awarded the National Society Daughters of the American Revolution Literacy Challenge Award from the Rancho Buena Vista Chapter!
When someone loves what she does, it shows. Ann Crane has exhibited traits of a true giver. Her actions speak louder than words even though words are what she uses in her giving to others. Ann reads to 13 classes every week of the school year. If its Friday, it is Granny Annie Day! She reads to classes from kindergarten through 5th grade, and each is a delight. Ann says it is such a joy to have this privilege and to hear many students on campus cry out, Hello Granny Annie, are you coming to our class today?
In addition to her weekly readings, Ann also helped facilitate an autobiography writing program called We the Children. Throughout one full semester, Ann helped 5th graders gather information, compose sentences, and strengthen their vocabulary as they wrote and illustrated their family stories.
Ann loves doing these things for children and is an invaluable asset to her community. Thanks for all that you are and all that you do, Ann! Congratulations on your well deserved award!
