Atlanta BookPALS is beginning a new series whereby one BookPAL will be featured on our website each month. Congratulations to Doug Kaye who has been chosen BookPAL of the Month for August 2006 due to his six years of outstanding service and dedication to the BookPALS Program!

Doug Kaye has been an Atlanta resident since 1975 and has been noted on stage for his comic and character roles. A partipant in the BookPALS Program since it started in Atlanta in 2001, he currently takes on all four of the kindergarten classes at Burgess-Peterson Elementary School.

Doug has worked very consistently at the New American Shakespeare Tavern since 1996 and has played such roles there as Friar Lawrence, Bottom, Polonius, and Shylock. Recently, he finished a seven-week run in THE FANTASTICKS, playing the same role he first assayed 36 years earlier. He has been a long-standing member of the Atlanta Radio Theater Company and directs and performs for what has become an annual SAG/AFTRA/AEA benefit for the Atlanta Community Food Bank, LEND ME AN EAR.

Doug has written and co-authored several plays, including musical parodies of Dracula and Sherlock Holmes, and a new adaptation of Aristophanes' THE FROGS. He is currently working on a fantasy/mystery novel with prolific writer Brad Strickland.
