As a former teacher, Paul appreciates the important role literacy can play in children's lives. Paul is a very dedicated BookPAL and he loves reading to the kids. Paul says, "What actor wouldn't want an audience like that? They are receptive. They are appreciative. They clap. They laugh at the right places." Paul says that the best reward he could receive for his volunteer work is simply seeing the kids each week. "When I walk into the classroom and I see their faces light up, that is all the reward I need."

Paul, who is a former lawyer and journalist, also works part time as a magistrate judge in Pickens County. "I figure I am getting the better end of the deal," said Paul.
