$25,000 for We the Children

The Greater Los Angeles New Car Dealers Association has generously contributed $25,000 to our We the Children autobiography project. Classes at Vine St. Elementary, Stoner Ave. Elementary, Mary E. Meller School, Lassen Elementary and Langdon Elementary have started this project. We want to thank GLANCDA from the SAG Foundation, BookPALS, and on behalf of all the children who will be touched by this project for their dedication to share the wonderful world of reading and writing with the kids of Southern California.

We have been fortunate to partner with GLANCDA for over 5 years now in bringing books, family literacy projects and above all reading love to kids in schools throughout Los Angeles. Dave Hutton, Regional Vice President of the Miller Automotive Group has been a champion of the SAG Foundation and our literacy initiatives introducing us to the entire GLANCDA family. Aside, from his work with the SAG Foundation, Mr. Hutton is a treasure to schools and organizations throughout Los Angeles and across the US.

Author Sharon Sharth stopped by classes at the end of March reminding the kids to write everyday and shared with them her experiences as a writer. Thank you PEN Center West for introducing Sharon to us! We are well underway and with the great help of over 25 BookPALS who have joined by volunteering each week, we will be presenting nearly 200 children with their leather bound life stories. Thank you!
