Martha Reeves gives Michigan an Exciting Kickoff!

Thursday, March 31 2005 @ 10:05 PM EST

Michigan

Singer Martha Reeves of Motown fame read to 3rd graders at Liberty School in Highland Park, Michigan. The event took place on Thursday, March 17 in conjunction with March Reading Month. Ms. Reeves' reading of "The Velveteen Rabbit" by Margery Williams had the children spellbound. She also honored the group with a song and had the children sing with her.

The superintendent of schools, Mrs. Saunders, graciously hosted a lavish reception for the debut of BookPALS. The event was attended by readers: Steve Goldsmith, Reavis Graham, Shirley Benyas, James Cowans, Marti Bowling, Nancy Flowkowski and Eddy Bell who coordinated the entire event. The pictures speak louder than words!
