The Worm Family

Written by Tony Johnston, illustrated by Stacy Innerst

Recommended Ages: 6 7 8

Meet the Worm family: Mother, Father, Albert, Evangeline, Blanche, tiny Rosa, and Uncle Herm. They love being worms. They believe that being worms is a "glorious thing." However, they are faced with moving often because their neighbors do not share this opinion. First, there were the Green Globs: they yelled and threw things. Next, the glossy ,bossy, striped neighbors: they threw things, too! Then, the thick and speckled (egg-like, behaved like the previous neighbors). The Worm family was prepared to move again, when Uncle Herm asserted: "Nope, the worm stops HERE!""...We will show the world the glory of worm!" Soon, the Worm family began enjoying life in their new surroundings. Time passed, and new neighbors knocked on the door (Fuzzy Wuzzy type). Afraid--the Worms started singing loudly. To their surprise, they were presented with a bouquet of flowers... The message: Be comfortable in your own skin.
