Written by Valerie Flournoy, illustrated by Jerry Pinkney

Recommended Ages: 5 6 7 8 9

Tanya watches her grandmother work on a patchwork quilt. Grandma tells Tanya that this "masterpiece" will take at least a year to complete. But one day, Grandma becomes ill and cannot work on the quilt for a long time. With some hesitation, Tanya starts cutting-out patches. Soon the whole family gets involved in finishing the quilt.
